Barry’s driver shaft broke again, in the spot where it constantly rubs against the golf bag from dawn until dusk. Barry has also walked the equivalent of the miles from New York to Las Vegas.
Rounds 1.5 to 2.5 with the Hoffs to get to 271 Total
Perfect weather and the Hoffs…
Combined to even bring Joy out, after a long hiatus!
My caddy thinks my bag is so light that he can carry it as well as his own…
But here is what happens by number 17, when we had to wait to tee off. Man down!
All these photos are courtesy of the great photographer, Cynthia!
The joke of the day was when Dave lost the wager on number 18 (barely!) and had to buy the beers, but low and behold there was a free keg of Dos Equis sitting by the door of Flintrock. Dave’s favorite, and it was even cold! What a way to win when you lose!! The golf-wager gods had his back today…
Graduation Trip, Rain, and TPC Michigan
Off to University of Michigan’s two graduation ceremonies- for the business school on one day, the whole graduating class the next. That means two full days of no golf!
But Sunday, out the door early to the wet and nearly empty TPC Michigan, Dearborn.
Two rounds in 4 hours and 40 minutes!
Houston to Watch the Sox
If you follow very closely, you see that the list of items that keep Barry off the golf course is very short.
The Red Sox playing within easy driving distance made the cut. Instead of hitting the 255 rounds mark, we packed up the car and headed to Houston with Brian.

The best part is that a man just walked up to us before the game and gave us two seats, just 20 rows up from home plate! Awesome seats, and the price was right. He told us to just buy him and his buddy a beer, because they would be sitting right next to us (then they never let us do it!).
The free nature of the tickets took some sting out of a Red Sox loss, and the extra hot sun beating down for the first few hours. Why did this man choose us to give away his tickets to? He said he wanted someone “semi-normal” sitting next to him. Just glad he didn’t see any normal people, so he had to settle for us “semi”s.
The boys brought their mitts and didn’t get any foul balls, but they kept themselves busy walking back to the car. Just a boy and his dad playing catch in the street in front of a cop! No, they didn’t get yelled at, but it made my rule-following soul rapt with the anticipation of it. The cop was actually quite entertained by them…
Quite successful as zero-golf days go. To 255 and beyond tomorrow…
Horseshoes and Handgrenades…
I believe this video is self explanatory!
Samson or Mickelson?
Barry has decided he needs to set some interim goals, apparently. So, he has decided to let his hair grow until he shoots a round even par.
I secretly believe this is in order to not have to sit still for the 20 minutes it would take to get a haircut! After all, at his pace that could be several holes.
Check out the Mickelson-esque locks…
This photo is after 2.5 rounds and very humid, so it shows the full effect to his curls. He is not quite as long as Phil yet, but there may extremely serious urging (by his wife and barber), if we get to “man-bun” or pony-tail stage! Too bad this Cynthia Hoff Photo had Mr. Longhair…
Keep your fingers crossed for even par soon!
NYC to Austin on Foot
Barry has now walked 1722 miles! The distance from Manhattan to Austin, and still wearing the same (rotated pairs of) shoes! I guess that is why he is a Foot Joy guy…

New Personal Max- 73 Holes in One Day
And then there was lightning. [intense_icon type=”bolt” size=”5″ spin=”1″]
Ended at 225.5 rounds, which is 53.27 ahead of pace…
One Hundred Days – 220 Rounds and Masters
Because of having done 4 days in a row of three rounds, Barry came into his 100th day ahead of pace 49.6 rounds.
But, because we have the Masters recording (we are all pulling for Jordan Spieth), we will quit after “only” 2 rounds today and go watch. Breaking the 3-a-day streak… go Jordan!
